Most of you know what a big Anglophile I am. I listen to tons of BBC radio and podcasts. I watch soooo much TV from the UK on BBC America and DVDs I order from Amazon UK as well. I've only been over there a couple of times but would like to live in London at some point in my life. And while English food has never been known as the choicest of cuisines, there are many things I dig about it. And lo and behold, my desires can be met here in NYC because there are 2 shops that import the goods!
Myers of Keswick: Located on 634 Hudson Street. It's a small store but has a good supply of groceries from the UK. But they are known for their homemade pork pies, sausage rolls, Scotch eggs, mince pies, etc. I have sampled many of their homemade goods and they are quite delicious. You can get Walker's crisps, Quality Street sweets, HP sauce, and other common UK food stuff. They even have some British household products for cleaning and the like! It's a nice looking store and well kept and easy to get around. Family run by proper Brits who are helpful and friendly!

Tea and Sympathy: Located at 108 Greenwich Avenue. Also a quite small store but they pack in TONS of product. I mean TONS. It's a bit overwhelming trying to find what you want but take your time and you'll find the goods. Crisps are to the left of the stuffed counter in boxes. Sweets are on the counter. Loads of other goods on the shelves behind. The friendly staff will help you find what you need. They have a restaurant of the same name right next door with classic dishes like Shepherd's pie and bangers and mash. I haven't eaten there yet but will do so soon! And on the other side of the grocery shop...

A Salt & Battery: Like I said, located to the left of Tea and Sympathy (the grocery) at 112 Greenwich Avenue. By far, the BEST fish and chips in NYC! Make sure to get some of the curry sauce to go with it. It's really tiny and seats only about 8 people at 2 small counters but it's worth it. If you can't get a seat, order to go.
I'm sure there are other UK based stores/shops/eateries around but I haven't sought them out. Famed chef Gordon Ramsay has a fine dining restaurant I've been wanting to check out and will soon. Until then, I'll be heading down to all of the spots mentioned above. Best thing? You can do both as they are about a 10 minute walk away from one another.
Go enjoy it, mates. I promise you'll not whinge. It's bloody brilliant! (Insert more British slang here).
