Last year, I was interviewed by the fledgling online magazine, Stated. I had met one of the founders, Ryan Swearingen, through a mutual friend. They covered all areas of the arts and for some reason wanted to talk with little ol' me about my podcast, Comic News Insider (CNI). I was very impressed with their website and soon found myself checking out the other interviewees. I saw a couple of friends (Molly Crabapple and Noah Racey) had been interviewed as well. And it's how I found/befriended the amazing Grace Helbig.
Clearly, I made an impression. I mean, how can I not? I'm pretty awesome. (Ooh, look! Hilarious and modest!) Ryan contacted me last week about becoming a contributing editor for the site and doing cross promotions with CNI via the interviews I do. I thought about it.
(Here's me thinking about it.)
And then I immediately agreed! I think it's a nice fit. (That's what she...ouch. Never mind.) I do so many interviews for CNI and knew I could call upon old interviewees and chat with them for Stated. And also I could chat with others that I may have wanted to interview for CNI, but they might not have fit into the format or been "genre" enough. Certainly, I have plenty of contacts in the comic book world, but many in a lot of areas of entertainment including actors, directors, writers, producers, musicians, artists, dancers, etc. The possibilities are endless since Stated's format is so open.
I'm not sure how often I'll contribute as we haven't worked that out yet. Perhaps weekly or monthly. Heck, maybe even hourly. I promise to bring that wry wit (some say annoying and feeble attempts at humor) I'm so famous for to each interview. Stay tuned!
If you think you'd be an awesome interviewee, then drop me a line. Can't promise, of course. I'll soon have an email set up through the site that should be something like: jimmy@statedmag.com
Here's my bio from the Stated "About" page. Ooh! Smell me!

If you know me, then you know one of my favorite shows in years is the cult hit NBC comedy, Community. Well written, excellent cast and just so damn funny. But, it's one of those that can be too clever for it's own good and dare I say "too smart" for the masses. It appeals to nerds like me as the plots can deal with Dungeons and Dragons, zombies and sci-fi.
