Been a bit behind in some comic book reading and completely missed the Batman run leading up to the New 52. I heard good things and wanted to check it out. Plus, my pal Francesco Francavilla was doing art chores along with Jock. So, when the storyline was collected into the hardcover trade paperback Batman: The Black Mirror, I just had to pick it up. Written by Scott Snyder, this deals with Dick Grayson as Batman. As previously mentioned, Francavilla and Jock shared art duties. Both dynamic in their own right and both amazingly awesome. The story is so compelling and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Briefly, a Gordon (as in Commissioner and Barbara) returns to the fold and all sorts of trouble begins to brew. Throw in The Joker at one point and some other familiar characters and you get a haunting tale of extreme family dysfunction. I'll be mentioning/reviewing it on my podcast (COMIC NEWS INSIDER) next Tuesday night so tune in for more details! Meanwhile, go pick it up and read it!
