My pal Brea Grant is directing her first movie called Best Friends Forever. You know her as an actress on such shows as Heroes ("Daphne"), Friday Night Lights ("Jean") and recently Dexter ("Ryan"). I've interviewed her several times on my podcast (COMIC NEWS INSIDER) and we became friends over the past couple of years. Always love hanging as she's really kind and super fun. She's obviously a good actress and quite stunning, but did you know she's proper nerdy? Yup. She's written some comic books with her brother Zane and is really into the medium. Not to mention a big horror fan too.
Okay, you get it. She's amazing. But what's this film about? I'll allow the official blurb to tell you.
BEST FRIENDS FOREVER is a dark comedy and sci-fi horror film, combining equal parts buddy film, road trip and nuclear apocalypse story, but with girls. Harriet, the perpetual but unsuccessful optimist, has finally figured out how to take her passion for comics and turn it into a responsible life. But when she and Reba, her seemingly devil-may-care best friend, hit the road to Austin, TX, an impending nuclear apocalypse endangers the best-laid plans and even the best of friendships.
Sounds pretty awesome, eh? I'm very excited to see this and I think it's going to rock. And...they need a wee bit of help. Brea started a Kickstarter page so you can support the project. I just did, so why don't you? How can you deny that adorableness in the picture below? (Well, her...not me).
Plus, if you donate, she promises to put me in her next film. I may or may not have made that up.
