Apparently, a lot of people have sex on Valentine's Day. Or VD, as I call it. And for good reason. I still apply generous amounts of lotion due to a VD tryst a couple of years ago. If you meet an Australian stewardess named Fiona, run. Trust me. Don't let that Qantas koala bear fool you! I'm not here to talk about that though. Unless you can help with the itching.
Last night I had 4 birthday parties to attend. Yeah, I know. I'm sooooooooo popular. You wish you were me. Hell, I wish I was me. Oh wait. I am. Sweeeeet! I was trying to figure out how to attend all of them so as not to upset anyone. (Cuz they'd be so upset if I didn't show up, bitches!) I got some help from my friend, Christina. (That's her over there.) She was having a birthday dinner a block from my apartment. However, she wasn't feeling all that well and decided to postpone. All good since the actual birthday is on Thursday and we'll be in Seattle together for Thanksgiving. I can't wait! Okay, 1 down then. This makes it easier.
A friend and I were going to go to a business associate's party. Morgan was having her bash at a trendy and hip lounge. I had met her a few times since she does some PR for the lounge that I manage. She also does PR for The Penthouse Executive Club. Yes, the Gentleman's Club. Okay, strip club. My friend and I wanted to go because we figured there would be a bevy of beautiful babes attending. Morgan and I have spoken a few times and hung out once. She's very sweet, but really more of a business friend. And, she gets me into the club for free! Didn't want to burn any bridges! Still, I thought that since I wasn't a "friend" friend, then it wouldn't really matter. I decided to nix that one and just send her some birthday wishes via email. Yeah, that's her with the footballs. That's what I missed. Imagine her friends. What the hell was I thinking?!! Curses! Should have gone to that one. Oh well, 2 down.
Mike is a new friend that I made when I joined the NYC Browncoats. I've talked about that before, so look it up! I was really looking forward to this one. I've made some great new friends in the group and he is definitely one of them. Funny guy and he's Asian! A soul brother! Or, in this case, a Seoul brother. (That's him, third from the left. Yes, 3 of us have Hawaiian shirts and the girl has a parasol. What of it?) I thought I'd hit his party first and then the last one after. Now, Mike lives all the way downtown at the tip of the island near the World Trade site. Downtown NYC can be confusing since many roads are closed and streets have names, not numbers. I hopped in a cab and headed down there. We got in the general area, but the cabbie couldn't seem to find it. He drove around for about 10 minutes and got lucky because the street just appeared. I think he lives in Brigadoon. That magical land that only appears every so often. I find the apartment building, but didn't have the apartment number. Good thing I had his phone number. Or I would have had a great party on the street with my malt liquor. That's right. I brought some malt liquor. I like it. Finally, I enter the abode. Nice sized studio. Being nosy, I immediately start looking around. Nice comic book and pop culture stuff. The winner was the Queen Amidala body lotion. The bottle was shaped like Natalie Portman's character from STAR WARS: THE PHANTOM MENACE. Naturally, I stole it. Hey, I bought him some gifts, so I figured it was an even exchange. Mike had made some nice hors d'oeuvres. I loved the home made dipping sauce and he even made the plastic container it was in. He decorated the container with the words "Kraft Ranch Dressing". Not sure why, but I rolled with it. Nice small group of friends just chilling and talking. And drinking. Daddy loves the sauce! 3 down!
I had to bounce after midnight to get to Heidi's party. Then, my friend that I was going to meet there calls me and bails on me. All good. I didn't really know the birthday girl that well anyway. Her loss. 4 down! Woo hoo! I did it!
I also was supposed to stop at one of my neighborhood pubs to meet up with another friend since her family was in town. However, in the cab, I decided to just head home. But, dropped into the bar downstairs from my apartment to see my friend, Maxine. I'm a sucker for those beautiful red headed Irish lassies and the accent! She was bartending and it was packed. Not really my kind of bar. Very frat boyish, but it was fun to watch people and make fun of them. I chilled with her for awhile and finally hit it home.
I ended up only attending one birthday party the whole evening. It was worth it and the others will probably call me crying and cursing me out since I didn't attend theirs. It's hard being so loved. Really. I hope you enjoyed your days, people! Happy Birthday again to Mike, Morgan, Christina and Heidi.
Speaking of birthdays. Mine is soon approaching on December 9th! Start saving the date. And money to buy me gifts! Details to follow...
Jimmy, dude, I was honored with (by? with?) your presence last night, and further honored to learn that mine was the only one of the four parties you made it to. "Gun-Fu" rules - is there more? And that's Queen Amidala GALACTIC body lotion, boiii! (Or, as the French say, "lotion galactique pour le corps".) See you on the 9th, assuming you're doing something, and I get invited.
