It's my birthday today! That's right. Start celebrating. No school today kids. And no work. Not even church! Jesus will be at the party providing the wine. Buddha is catering and Allah is providing the ladies. (Hey, if he can provide 72 virgins in the after life...) The big birthday bash starts at 8pm and ends sometime in January. It's the first big holiday of December and then bleeds into Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's and Chinese New Year's. All, of which, I'll be celebrating at some point. As I explained yesterday, I don't acknowledge other birthings on this day, but I suppose if I must, it'll be famous folks! The big one as a kid that I actually thought cool is Donny Osmond.
Yes, he of the purple socks. I even had a pair! I loved watching the Donny & Marie Show! I wanted to be a "little bit rock and roll" to Marie's little bit country! I wanted to stand next to her. Sing with her. Do the sketch comedy with her. Make out with her! Just like Donny did. Yeah, they're close. Really close. Don't hate. Marie is hot! And Mormon hot at that! And after having a bajillion kids, she still looks good! Them Mormons must feed em right! Maybe I'll convert after all. It's between that and Scientology. Both have so many great made up stories. Oh wait, just like all religions. The Bible ain't a best seller cuz of faith, it's cuz it's got good stories!
As I grew older and began to explore my serious acting roots, I was happy to find out that Kirk Douglas was a fellow 9ther. And not just because I like gladiator movies.
And, I was a big fan of John Malkovich as well. He rocked those ladies out in DANGEROUS LIAISONS! He was all smooth with them even though he was dressed all gay like.
Of course, there are many others. John Milton-the English poet who authored the classic PARADISE LOST, Dick Butkus-former Chicago Bears linebacker, Kurt Angle-former Olympic gold medalist and current pro wrestler, and only a couple of ladies. Margaret Hamilton-the wicked witch from THE WIZARD OF OZ and Dame Judi Dench-famous for being a great actress no matter how minute the role or bad the movie.
However, my proudest celebrity co-birthday has to be Redd Foxx.
He of rude and lewd stand up comedy and SANFORD AND SON fame. "I'm coming Elizabeth!" Rest in peace my brother. I'll tip my 40 in your memory, ya big dummy!
Okay, get off your computers and go get me a nice expensive present! And, no, she doesn't have to speak English.
Hope you are having a great day. I wish I could be there to help you celebrate!
