What's a Toy Fair? Well, according to the official site: American International Toy Fair® is the largest toy trade show in the Western Hemisphere. More than 1,500 manufacturers, distributors, importers and sales agents from 30 countries showcase their toy and entertainment products. From classic toys to interactive entertainment and everything in between, we have it all! Products include: action figures and dolls, games and puzzles, bicycles, tricycles and ride-ons, radio-controlled vehicles, infant and preschool toys, cars, trucks and trains, puppets and plush, audio and video cassettes, computer software and video games, playground and sporting equipment, Halloween, Christmas, books, stationery, party supplies, and much more!
For years, I had heard about this elusive foray into the secret world of toys. Many fellow actors (back in my acting days) were hired to work the show as characters like Bob the Builder, Dora the Explorer, Barbie, GI Joe, etc. I never seemed to find a way in. It's for trade only and not open to the public. But, this year...we got in! Comic News Insider was invited by Hasbro to take a sneak peek at their showroom a day before the actual event happens! Today! We'll be seeing the upcoming toy releases from TRANSFORMERS, MARVEL
Are you kidding me? All of my childhood cartoongasms and light sabers?! While I'm not a toy collector, I do appreciate the business. I may buy a random action figure here and there, but I don't keep up with everything new. We're allowed to take pictures, so expect some cool photos. The rest of Toy Fair is all this weekend at the Javits Center here in NYC. Unfortunately, we weren't invited to the whole thing. But, hey...I'll take just the Hasbro thing today. I've never known much about Toy Fair in the past. And now I'll know.
