Oh yeah. I got it. The 80 gig black video iPod.
After many drinks the other night, I dragged some friends to the 24 hour Apple Store on 5th avenue. I traded in my broken 30 gig photo iPod and got 10% off. Oooooooh. I saved all of $35!
Never shop drunk. I ended up buying all of my friends Apple TV's, iPods and iBooks. Sigh...
I spent the next day re-downloading many of the video podcasts I love, but had been deleting after viewing to save space. Now I can watch Tiki Bar TV, French Maid TV, Diggnation and Fresh Ink any time I want! I even purchased a couple of movies. South Park and Team America: World Police. I don't think I'm going to buy many movies due to the screen being so small.
Now if I can just figure out how to get porn on there.....

A friend of mine, Arielle, was in town last night. You may remember her. I met her during my San Francisco trip last September. She is one of the local Browncoats. So, a bunch of us got together to meet for dinner, drinks, more drinks and even more drinks. Now, of course, being the seasoned drinker, I was doing my drinking thing and not realizing she was trying to keep up. And, to her own admission, she is a lightweight. There were many of us around, so I guess I didn't notice her inebriation until much later. Like 3am later. All good. I threw her in a cab and figured it was cool.
Now, she is on vacation for a week and staying in Connecticut with a friend. She wanted to come into NYC for a night and party with the legend that is me. Who could blame her? She needed a place to crash and arranged something through a friend. She didn't know the guy she was crashing with, but he is a friend of her friend, so all good. She only met him right before dinner yesterday. Got his address and how to get to his apartment later. (He had to get up early for work, so didn't come out with us.)
Got it?! Well, now let me share with you in Arielle's own words what happened after I put her in that cab.
Epic. Legendary. Hilarious. Awesome. Creepy. Anyone else got a drunken story to share? If so, come on over to the Comic News Insider Forum and leave it in this thread!

Another great show! What, you think I'd say it sucked? Have you not been listening? Then you know how great it is! Joe and I bring it every week. What we bring, I'm not sure. I think I brought bourbon, a BBQ chicken sandwich and some Wild Cherry Pepsi. Oh yeah, and...what's it called? Talent! Mwhahahaha!
Reviews of Painkiller Jane Vol. 3 #0, Raise the Dead #1 and Fallen Son: The Death of Captain America #1 (Wolverine). Our contest winner is announced! Congrats to David Surkin! We got many entries, but he was the first one to email us with the correct answers. Way to go Dave! We surprised him with a call to congratulate him. I had told him that we were contacting random listeners to get their thoughts on Grindhouse. I fooled him! Pretty sneaky, sis!

A couple of hot women came in the bar the other night. Around my age. So, normal to me, but the young 'uns would call them cougars. Out on the prowl! Married with kids. In town for the car show.
It was slow and we got to talking and flirting. Told them places to go. A few years back, I would have suggested getting a drink after work and hanging. But, I was tired and had to get home to work on stuff.
I think I lost my mojo. Have you seen it? If so, please return it to me. Sigh...
But, they are here all week so I told them to swing by on Friday. They said they would and maybe I could show them around the hood after.
Hey! There's my mojo! Never mind.

If you read regularly, you know what I drink. Big wine drinker. Beer. Bourbon. Cognac. Scotch. Never drink vodka, gin, rum, or tequila. I do partake in other liqueurs as well. I like the flavors of some anise based liqueurs. And, recently, I've grown a taste for bitters. I've always like Angostura and Peychaud bitters. Aromatics for various drinks. However, I'm really digging the Italian digestive, amaro. Many amaros exist.
My current favorite is Cynar. It is an Italian bitter liqueur made from 13 herbs and plants. Most predominant among these is, unusually, the artichoke (Cynara scolymus), from which the drink derives its name.
Amaros are usually bittersweet and syrupy. Not very high in alcohol. Cynar is only 33 proof. (16.5% alcohol.) It's great straight, over ice or with soda. Haven't mixed it with cola or anything, but will have to try.
Only problem is that not many places carry it. Looks like I'll have to buy up a box. Or, you all could send me some. You know where to find me.
Give it a shot. You might like it. Or you might spit it out in disgust. Take a chance. You'll either curse or praise my name. Either way, you'll be thinking of me.
And really...isn't that what the world is all about?

Hells yeah!
I saw it last night and loved it. It is genius. Seriously. Rodriguez and Tarantino give homage to the old 70's B-movie flicks. 2 movies in one! Complete with gore, nudity, grainy film, missing film reels, fake previews, zombies, hot girls and much more!
First up. Planet Terror by Robert Rodriguez. Your basic zombie story with people fighting back. Government involved. Hot girls. Guns. Gore. Mmmm....
All sorts of stars like Bruce Willis, Michael Biehn, Josh Brolin, Marley Shelton, Rose McGowan, Freddy Rodriguez, Naveen Andrews and even Stacey Ferguson from The Black Eyed Peas! (Who is quite Fergielicious!) The story follows some sort of radioactivity being released in the air and people turning into zombies. Survivors gather and fight them off. Rose McGowan, hot as ever, manages to remain hot and cool as the machine gun legged "Cherry". Marley Shelton makes the runny mascara look sexy and packs some mean needles. Freddy Rodriguez as the hero is quite good and even Tarantino himself makes an appearance. Fun effects. Blood splatters. Over the top make up and features. Top notch!
We get more "previews" after the first film ends. The funniest by far is directed by popular horror director Eli Roth. It's called Thanksgiving. That's all I'm going to tell you. Hilarious!
Next up with have Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof. He takes his time setting this story up. First we follow a group of hot girls led by the beautiful Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Vanessa Ferlito, and Jordan Ladd. We see the car drive by a couple of times. Driven by Kurt Russell! Oh yeah. The girls drive to one of their local haunts later at night. I immediately recognized it. If you don't know, Rodriguez has his studios in Austin, Texas and they shot most, if not all, of the film down there. So, the bar I recognize. Nope, never been to Austin. But, I was addicted to the reality show, ROLLERGIRLS, last year. It was all about the Texas Roller Derby.
One of my favorite girls is Punky Bruiser. So much so that I some how justified having her on my podcast, Comic News Insider, about a year ago. Anyway, in the ROLLERGIRLS series, she worked at this bar, Texas Chili Parlor. And that's where the scene took place! Woo hoo! Maybe we'll see Punky! Hey, is that her in the background. HOLY CRAP! That's her delivering drinks and she even had a line. And then, she sat on Tarantino's lap (he was playing the bar owner) and did shots and had a few lines. He even called her Punky! Awesome! My girl is moving on up. Might have to get her on the show again!
Anyway, Rose McGowan is in this one as well. Blond wig and all. Things happen and Russell explains how his car is "death proof". And proves it.
Switch to him getting out of the hospital and focusing on another group of hot girls. Tracie Thoms, Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and real life stunt woman, Zoe Bell. Tarantino put her in front of the camera for the first time. Sure, as herself, but she was part of the story. And she rocked! Thoms plays a stunt woman as well, Winstead an actress and Dawson as some sort of worker in films. Can't remember.
So, they are on break from shooting a film in Alabama. The stunt women find a revved up car to joy ride in and Mr. Death Proof chases them down. Same result as the first set of girls? Maybe not! Let's just say, some ass kicking girls!
Mary Elizabeth Winstead is ridiculously hot in her cheerleader outfit. She's clearly eye candy and plays the stereotypical dumb actress girl. And I don't mind a bit. I just wish she was a bit more involved in the ass kicking that I previously mentioned.
Clearly, she's my new star crush. I've seen her in a few things here and there. But, this is her most prominent role to date for me.
Did I mention how hot she looks in the cheerleader outfit? Mmmmmm....
Grindhouse clocks in at just over 3 hours. And it doesn't even seem like it. Death Proof moves along a bit slower than Planet Terror, but when it gets going, it never stops!
Rodriguez and Tarantino have really hit it out the park with this one. They have great movies under their belt as it is, but this collaboration is really something else. And, hopefully a creation of a series of Grindhouse style flicks.
My verdict? DUH! Go see it!
Zombies, boobs, blood, death, and girls. If Grindhouse is another option to go when you die, then you know where I'll be.
See you there.

Blades of Glory.
Yep. I saw it last night. What did I think? Read on.
And yes....
SPOILERS! (Sheesh.)
I wasn't all hyped to see this movie and only went because some other friends were going. I love Will Ferrell. Jon Heder was great as Napoleon Dynamite. And the commercials looked very funny. Some of my other favorites, Will Arnett and Amy Poehler, are in it as well.
The story follows Jimmy MacElroy (Heder) and Chazz Michael Michaels (Ferrell). Rival male figure skaters at the top of their game. MacElroy, the classic, by the book skater. Michaels, the bad boy, womanizing drunk. They tie in a national competition for the gold and start a brawl. Which leads to their lifetime ban from competition. A few years pass, and Michaels is drunkenly working in a kids ice show. While MacElroy is working at a skate shop. Both hating what they do. They learn that there is a loophole in the rule book. They can't compete as individuals, but there's nothing saying they can't in the pairs competition. After witnessing another fight they have, MacElroy's old coach (Craig T. Nelson) convinces them that they should compete together as a pair. After much reluctance, they agree.
Meanwhile, the top pairs couple in the world is The Van Waldenberg siblings. Stranz (Will Arnett) and Fairchild (Amy Poehler) are America's sweethearts. Beneath the facade, lies a selfish and odd brother and sister who blame their younger sister, Katie (Jenna Fischer) for their parents death. They guilt her into being their assistant but treat her like a servant. Through practicing, MacElroy and Katie meet up and fall for one another. The mean older siblings want to use Katie to disrupt the camaraderie and teamwork that MacElroy and Michaels had established. This leads to the ultimate competition and showdown between the 2 pairs.
Got it?
Okay. It was pretty funny. I laughed out loud quite a bit. Ferrell played the drunk womanizer as over the top as usual. And full of funny! Heder was very good and the banter he had with Ferrell was terrific. The love between Jimmy and Katie was thrown in as a plot device and cheesy. But, clearly cheesy on purpose.
And thank you! I wont give the scene away, but Jenna Fischer in a tight little teddy for several minutes. Boobalicious! Ain't no plain Pam from The Office over there! Pure hotness!
Arnett and Poehler as the scheming brother/sister duo are awesome. But, some of the funniest moments came from the routines themselves. From Heder's opening "peacock" routine to the "JFK/Marilyn Monroe" routine that Arnett/Poehler had to the last routine from Ferrell/Heder to the tune of the Theme from The Flash Gordon Soundtrack! FLASH! AH-AHHHHH!!!!
Silliness, fantasy and just plain ridiculousness abounds. And guess what? It's a ton of fun.
Go see it!

It's April 1st. Traditionally, the time when all of the amateur pranksters and jokesters pull their lame ass stunts to "fool" us. If you're gonna try to do something, at least be clever and fresh. Not some stupid thing like saying, "I just ate a buffalo and had sex with my twin sister.....APRIL FOOL'S!" Be original. Be funny. Or better yet...just be quiet!
I know you're waiting for me to do one. I'm not.
Instead of April Fooling everyone, just go fool a girl named April. I did that once. And she believed me that I'd stick around to raise the kids. Oh, April. You're such a fool.
