K. Got back a few hours ago from the wedding. Still recovering. Got some pics to share later. For now, I'll leave you with my short and sweet ceremony that I, Reverend Jimmy Aquino, did perform. Enjoy.
Marsha & Bob's Wedding 7/7/07
Processional
Greeting
Jimmy: Aloha everyone. I am the most holy Rev. Jimmy Aquino. Brother of the Bride, keeper of the cloth, drinker of the bourbon and tipper of the stripper. It is my honor to officiate my sister's wedding. Yes, I am ordained and yes, it's official. So, shut it. Let's take this time to silence all pagers and cell phones. I know there are a bunch of doctors and nurses here, but no one's gonna die if you don't answer. What? They might? My bad. Vibrate then.
Jimmy: We're here for the marriage of Marsha Jean Rolls and Robert Alan Bell, Jr. on this day, July 7th, 2007 on the beautiful shores of Hawaii…uh…Jersey. Traditionally, a Hawaiian wedding starts with the blowing of a conch. But, since we couldn't find one we're gonna go with another Hawaiian tradition, the lei exchange. The giving of a lei is an expression of love. (Look at bridesmaids and say, "You know what I'm saying, ladies?").
Lei exchange
Jimmy: The bride and groom will now exchange leis. Marsha, please take this lei and place it over Robert 's neck and in the Hawaiian tradition kiss her on both cheeks. Robert, please do the same.
Declarations
Jimmy: Do you Robert, take Marsha, to be your wife?
Robert: I do.
Jimmy: Do you Marsha, take Robert, to be your husband?
Marsha: I do.
Jimmy: Rock on. And speaking of rocks on...
The Ring Ceremony
Jimmy: Please take out the wedding rings. Like the leis, the rings represent the eternal and unending love that you share.
Robert, please place the ring on Marsha's finger and repeat after me. "With this ring/ I, Robert, pledge to thee Marsha/to have and to hold from this day forward/ for better, for worse/ for richer for poorer/ in sickness and in health/ to love and to cherish/ always and forever/ till death us do part."
Marsha please place the ring on Robert's finger and repeat after me. "With this ring/ I, Marsha, pledge to thee Robert/to have and to hold from this day forward/ for better, for worse/ for richer for poorer/ in sickness and in health/ to love and to cherish/ always and forever/ till death us do part."
The Pronouncement
Jimmy: Just like that, folks! Robert and Marsha you have pledged your eternal love. By the authority vested in me by the laws of the State of New Jersey, I pronounce you husband and wife. Robert, you may kiss your bride! With honor I proudly announce for the first time Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bell.
Closing Words
I Ho'okahi kahi ke aloha ua mau. Be united as one, in love forever. Now let's party!
