Michael Emerson Wins Another Emmy!

I'm so proud of my good friend, Michael Emerson, for winning the "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama" Emmy for his role as "Ben Linus" in the hit series Lost. That's him and his wife, Carrie Preston ("Arlene" in True Blood) in the picture. As most of you know, I've known Michael since the late 80's when we lived in Jacksonville, Florida. Performing together, building sets, hanging lights, etc. He's been a true friend for almost 20 years. 

This is his second Emmy win. The first coming when he did a guest spot in about 6 episodes of The Practice way back in 2001. He was the only "non-star" in the category that year and still took the trophy home! If you missed the show or his acceptance speech last night, then check it: 

Note the little speech that host Neil Patrick Harris says as Michael is approaching the stage. He mentions " If Michael Emerson weren't on television right now, he'd be in New York City having a fancy cocktail with me." That's sort of a shout out to me! Michael swings into my bar now and then to see me. And NPH himself has visited my fine establishment as well. So, in a way, he was talking about having a drink with Michael at my bar. At least, that's how I will pretend to see it. 

Mad props to my boy for a well deserved win. I saw all sorts of love and kudos coming from friends of mine who know I know him. You know you're friend is famous when YOU get congratulatory messages for him when he wins an Emmy!  Congrats, Michael. We'll celebrate in NYC when you're back!

Really glad that Michael Emerson won the Emmy last night - very well deserved!

I think that it was John Hodgman doing the comments as people were walking up to the stage though - but I have no doubt he's also been in your bar :)

Ain't it fun when old friends do well? Kinda bursting with pride.

Emerson is such a wonderful talent. Can't wait 'til January. :-)
