Whose Voice Is That?

You ever hear a commercial and recognize the voice, but just can't place it? Happens to me all of the time. Imagine how pleased I was to learn of a website out there that identifies them for you! The site is called Whose Voice Is That?: A Voice Recognition Experiment. Basically, this guy learned long ago that he can figure out famous people's voices in commercial voice overs, cartoons, narration, etc. 

I found out about it thanks to friend Amber MacArthur and her co-host Leo Laporte when listening to the recent episode 149 of their podcast net@night. They had the voice recognizer himself on to chat about his unique super power and website. So, if you're stumped when watching TV, go to the website and get the answer. Here's a direct link to the page that identifies those celeb voice overs in commercials.

Kashu & The Bear

I'm not quite sure what is going on either.  

Okay, just a little. I was shooting a trailer for the upcoming Lava-Roid movie based on characters created by my friend, Kevin Conn. You may remember him as Unemployed Skeletor and Fake Alan Moore on my podcast, Comic News Insider. That's also him in the outfit next to me. What can I say? He's versatile. I play "Kashu", his ex-ninja/scientist/best friend. You know, a stock character.

Making It Rain

Rainy days here in NYC made me think of my favorite "rain song". Can You Stand the Rain by New Edition. Yup. I was a big New Edition fan growing up. Suck it. 

Of course, how could I forget Blame It on the Rain by Milli Vanilli.

Admit it. You were fooled by them too. Even before they were outed as frauds, they couldn't touch His Royal Badness. 

Now, go outside if you can stand the rain. Unless it's purple, then you can just blame it.

Dave & Siobhan: Escape From New York!

My newly wedded friends, David & Siobhan, were stuck here in NYC post-wedding for a week. They got out on a flight to the UK last night and are now home safe and sound. Probably downing some Maltesers, sipping a cuppa, and watching a bit of EastEnders. They made the most of their trip while here. Dave recorded 2 episodes of my podcast, Comic News Insider, with me. And, they both got on TV! 

Good thing we got rid of them. Next thing you know they'd have their own sitcom on NBC. "A mixed race British couple get married in Jamaica and then stuck in NYC on their way home to the UK. They toss a coin and decide to stay in Harlem. Wacky neighbor Jimmy keeps David out til 5am drinking while Siobhan haggles for hats in Chinatown. Uh-oh! More family arrives and the hijinks and silliness are more than can be believed!" 

I think I'm on to something. Quick, come back, you guys! We have a hit on our hands! 

The Wizard of Ash

My poor friends from the UK are still stuck here. One, being a singer, altered the words to "Over the Rainbow" to "Over the Volcano". Which got me thinking. We'll do a timely new musical called The Wizard of Ash. The main song will be "Over the Volcano". Other hit songs will be "If I Only Had a Plane", "If I Only Could Depart", "Follow the Ashy Thick Cloud", and "Ding Dong! The Skies Are Clear!". We'll open in the West End in the UK and then it will take the world by storm! 

It could happen. 

Jimmy Aquino's Hot Toddy

It seems my world famous hot toddy recipe is in high demand. I made it for Superman once, and he tells the world about it. Fine, I'll share the secret recipe then. Stupid Kal-El. 

• Turn the kettle on full of water to boil. 
• Add 2 bags of tea. An herbal tea and a dark tea. 
• Add generous portions of honey. 
• Squeeze in one lemon wedge, one lime wedge, one orange wedge. 
• Add a pinch of fresh mint leaves.
• Add a couple of cinnamon sticks. 
• Drop in small piece of ginger, if available. (Not required). 
• Depending on kettle size, add anywhere from 2-6 ounces of bourbon. 
• Stir and steep for a couple of minutes. 
• Pour into a mug and enjoy! 

Now remember. This is a secret recipe, so don't go sharing it. I know the internet is secure and things can't be copied so I'm safe posting this here, right? 

Right?
