Christmas Nerds

Me and my friend Deirdre are total Christmas nerds and aren't ashamed of it! We've already made plans to watch It's A Wonderful Life (Our mutual fave movie ever!). I've bought 3 new Xmas albums on iTunes and watched my first Xmas movie yesterday, The Muppet Christmas Carol. I knew we'd be friends for life when I first met her and she was wearing a Santa hat & had jingle bells around her neck. Seriously. 

Christmas haters can suck candy canes! You can't ruin our Ho-ho-holiday cheer! 

 

Chloe Love

This is my baby niece, Chloe. I would do anything for her to have a healthy life without complications. ANYTHING. Hang in there, baby girl. Uncle Jimmy loves you more than you'll ever know. 

My Thanksgiving Dinner

I got turkey, potatos, cranberry and pumpkin! Woo hoo!

Well, not your traditional turkey day goods but it still tasted good going down!

Black Friday

Today's the day that Black Lightning will electrify all criminals! 

Hmmm....maybe he should have just been called "Lightning" so he could do that every day.

Oh Power Girl. You always have the nicest breasts. TURKEY breasts, that is! Hey! It's Thanksgiving, get your mind out of the gutter. Have a rockin' one, kids.

It's been awhile since I got to see my adorable nephew, Maximus. We had a lot of catching up to do. And clearly, his musical talent has been thriving. Take that, Jimmy Page!

Chef Jess: From Screen to Kitchen

Recognize her? Yep, that's my friend Jessica Collins! She's an actress seen on TV shows like Scoundrels, Big Shots, Tru Calling, Star Trek: TNG, Nip/Tuck and more. She's also a chef and has her very own, brand spanking new food blog! In her own words:

"I’ve been an actress for over 20 years (good lord!) and have played everything from a hooker (with a heart of gold of course!) to a 4 yr old alien (when I was 30!) and everything in between.

One of the ways I’ve stayed grounded in my crazy industry is through my connection with cooking. I find it very therapeutic and it brings me great joy to share this passion with friends and family, and now hopefully you.

Always looking to further myself as a chef, I enrolled and proudly graduated from the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu. After which, I spent time in a professional test kitchen, “worked the line” in a fancy restaurant, and even did a little catering. But my favorite place to cook, like most people, is in my own home where I’m known as “Chef Jess.”

I’ve started this blog as a place where I can share my intense love for all things food. There’ll be a lot of recipes — some of them mine and others I find along the way, and also tidbits on travel, restaurants, friends and my sweet dog Lucy who’s usually found hanging with me in the kitchen."

Looking over the recipes, I want all of that food in my mouth right now! She's promised to cook for me when I'm out west again. Seeing the pictures of the food and "How to" video makes me want to fly out immediately to collect on that promise. Don't believe me? See for yourself!

Jimmy Aquino and the Deathly Hallows

Epic indeed. I'll review this on Tuesday's episode 305 of my podcast, COMIC NEWS INSIDER. Quick thoughts though (minor spoilers, at best):

• This is in every review & it seems obvious from the trailers so hopefully not much of a spoiler. With Hogwarts not actually a big part of the film, it didn't feel like a Harry Potter movie. And that's not a bad thing. Very dark, yes. But really well done. 
• I've never read the books and won't, so shut up about it. I know most of what happens at the end just from reading up on it over the years. But, I was surprised at the death of one character and it was quite moving. 
• We've watched these kids grow up in front of our eyes. They've really turned into good actors. 
• I wanted more Luna! 
• This one has some really adult moments throughout. Especially a certain scene with Harry & Hermione. Whoa. 
• Helena Bonham-Carter is still delightfully wicked as Bellatrix. I know she's a bad guy but I heart her muchly. 
• While they are wand fights, they are still pretty awesome.
