Most of you know that I do the weekly podcast COMIC NEWS INSIDER. I've worked my patootie off for 7 years on it and continue to do so. So pardon me if it gets me a bit miffed when people can't seem to get the name right. We've made a name for ourselves and people know our show all over the world. Yet, friends, fellow podcasters/new media folks, journalists, bloggers, etc. will CONSTANTLY get it wrong. It's not Comic Book Insider. It's not ComicS News Insider. It's not Comic News Inside. It's not Comic Nudes Inside Her. It's COMIC NEWS INSIDER.
It's just really lazy when people get it wrong in an article or email or especially when I get PR and they don't even know the right name. Especially when it's so easy to quickly look up. But what really sucks, is that I'm SO goddamn supportive of my friends and their podcasts/blogs/vlogs/etc. I'd be GUTTED if I got theirs wrong and make every effort to correct and make up for it. I've had friends...FRIENDS, get the name wrong on their sites/shows/etc.
Sure, a lot of my friends don't listen to the podcast. It's not for them. So when they casually bring it up or introduce me to a friend and say, "He does this podcast called..." and get it wrong, well, that's something different. They don't listen to it and aren't that familiar. It's the ones that either should know just because we're in the same circles media-wise or nerd-wise or whatnot.
So, please, my lovelies. Get it right. COMIC NEWS INSIDER. If you can't remember, just put it in a rhyme. Atomic Booze n' Cider. Actually, that's a great name for a new podcast! Of course, you'll probably get that wrong too.
Sigh...

Jimmy is joined in studio by famed vloggers/comedians/life coaches/newly engaged couple Michelle Vargas and Justin Akin! They chat about the Doctor Who screening and interviews they attended last week. Well, Jimmy did the interviews with stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan along with executive producer Caroline Skinner which you'll hear throughout this episode. Michelle attended the screening of the first episode (airing this Saturday on BBC America). Fret not. NO SPOILERS. News includes: Superman and Wonder Woman get it on, new Justice League of America comic book coming, Rob Liefeld quits DC/goes on Twitter rant about it and a new Star Wars animated TV series called Detours is coming from the makers of Robot Chicken. As always, listener feedback, Top 3 and more! Leave your iTunes comments! 5 stars and nothing but love!

My Sucky Teen Romance is young indie filmmaker wunderkind Emily Hagin's new film. It's a teen vampire comedy. You heard me. And it's really good! You may recognize her name. She wrote and directed the zombie film Pathogen when she was 12. And there was even a documentary about her called Zombie Girl that followed her as she shot that film. Her follow up to Pathogen was a ghostly story called The Retelling. (Which, sadly, I missed). She's doing a press tour with her latest film that will be available on DVD next week.
I interviewed her 3 years ago for my podcast COMIC NEWS INSIDER, when she was about 15. She's now 18 and still rocking the film game. And she's in town promoting MSTR so I'm interviewing her tomorrow at 2pm! Feel free to send questions if you have them via my Twitter. I'm @jimmyaquino.
And do look her up and check out her movies!

Most of you know, I host the podcast COMIC NEWS INSIDER covering the world of comic books, animation, sci-fi and pop culture. Doctor Who, the hit British sci-fi show, definitely falls into that category. If you don't know about it, then look it up! I ain't got time to be giving you no history lessons, fools! Anyway, it's a great show and I'm a big fan.
A few years back, I had the privilege to interview the 10th Doctor David Tennant along with then showrunner Russell T. Davies, producer Julie Gardner and director Euros Lyn. However, when the 11th Doctor Matt Smith took over, BBC did a huge push in America. For the first time, I was seeing it advertised on the sides of busses and billboards all over. Great to see! But with that big push, brought tons of exposure, attention and more fans. And with that, it became a bit more difficult to get into the press rooms and get interviews with the cast.
UNTIL NOW!
The new season (sorry, series as they say in the UK) starts on September 1st and they are having an advanced screening of the first episode tonight here in NYC. Which I can't make. CURSES! It's an evil Dalek plot to keep me away!
BUT...
There will be some press roundtables with Matt, Karen Gillan ("Amy Pond") and executive producer Caroline Skinner in the afternoon which I CAN attend! Finally! I can meet and interview the lovely Miss Gillan and she'll totally fall in love with me. At first, I didn't think there'd be any interview opportunities but I had misread the original PR. Take that, Cyber Men!
ANY QUESTIONS? Send 'em in via my Twitter (@jimmyaquino) by 3pm EST!
Matt Smith and I at a mutual pal's party at San Diego Comic Con last month.

I guess all of those vocal lessons I gave my new BFFs Live Prude Girls finally paid off. Well done, Stevie and Milana! So cute how they keep trying.
And, make sure you go buy some swag from them as well. I get 50% profit. And by 50% profit, I mean their eternal love. And by their eternal love, I mean they may call me maybe.

Jimmy flies solo for a quickie this week as guest co-host canceled at the last minute. And believe it or not, there is no more San Diego Comic Con coverage! Jimmy gets a late night visitor, gets some inside scoop on the X-Men: First Class sequel, remembers director/producer Tony Scott and thanks Producer Joe for all of the San Diego Comic Con episode producing. News includes: Colleen Doran is adapting a Neil Gaiman short story into a graphic novel for Dark Horse, the Robot Chicken DC Comics Special is coming, The Avengers sequel gets a release date, The Boysends in November with a super-size issue, Warner Bros. and WWE Studios announce a Scooby-Doo/WWE animated feature, and Whilce Portacio returns to creator-owned comics with Non-Humans.
