I went to the BC&GF yesterday and all I got were some awesome indie comics! Here are the highlights:
- Same great location in Brooklyn. However, super crowded (not great crowd control) and REALLY HOT inside.
- So many great indie cartoonists and comics!
- Checked out Heidi MacDonald's site (The Beat) for recommendations of what to pick up. Bought about 10 of her recommendations!
- Due to time, I could only hang for about an hour so didn't hit any panels. But heard good things about them.
- It was so crowded, which made it tough to chat with any cartoonists. Even ones I bought books from.
- I'm not one to care about getting books signed but someone helping at a table seemed to take umbrage to that. She asked if I wanted it signed since the cartoonist was sitting right there (he was engaged in conversation with another though). I said, "No, that's okay". She insisted, "But he's right here!". Again, I said, "I'm good, but thanks". She sort of said it again but I politely dismissed it. Thankfully, the cartoonist didn't hear any of this. If the cartoonist himself had asked, I would have said "Yes" out of respect, but it's just not that big of a deal to me to have it done.
- Great show all about indie comics!
