Dusting Off the XBox 360
I dusted off the ol' XBox 360 that I haven't touched in months. So many games piled up to play. First one I put in was the Lego Batman 2 game. 7 hours later, I forced myself to stop playing. Maybe I need to let it gather some more dust before I lose all sense of time and meaning of life. Ah, fuck it. PLAY ON!

Actors' Equity Turns 100
The grand theater actor's union, Actors' Equity, turns 100 today. Most of my actor friends are social media posting about when they got their Equity card. And since I'm a sheep, I follow.
I got mine doing a production of The King and I at The Westchester Broadway Theater back in 1999/2000. I was in the chorus but understudied both Phra Alack/The Interpreter (a part I had played before) and The Kralahome (the King's right hand man/Prime Minister of sorts). I got to go on as both parts a few times. That's me as The Kralahome up in the picture. As for the card, well...it almost didn't happen. Since I had replaced an Equity member and there are rules of how many union per cast, etc., they had to make us Equity. It was only because of our Equity rep in the cast that this happened. Alas, I left the show early to do a non-Equity national tour which ended up being my last show ever. I didn't bother keeping up with dues either. But...for those few brief months, I was a proud member of Actors' Equity. Happy birthday!

Grandma's House
Catching up on a bunch of DVDS I got from Amazon UK. Always liked Simon Amstell as host on Nevermind the Buzzcocks and his standup was quite funny. I had heard good things about this series and it is brilliant. Simon plays a version of himself using real life situations he has experienced. Each episode takes place in his Grandma's house (ergo,the title) and the interactions with his mother, mother's new beau, grandmother, grandfather, aunt and cousin are pricelss. Uncomfortable, awkward and hilarious. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

Hannibal: Eat the Rude!
Are you watching Hannibal on NBC? It's the new masterpiece by Bryan Fuller. He also created the amazing shows Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls, and Dead Like Me (besides also working on Heroes, Star Trek, etc). It's great and I'm hoping NBC will pick it up for another season. It's a bit dark and gory but just brilliant. I've had Bryan on my podcast, COMIC NEWS INSIDER, several times and he's always been very kind and stayed in touch. Hope to get him on again soon to chat about this great show! Stay tuned!

In 2011 I started pre-selling shows on Kickstarter. I sold tickets to concerts before I even booked them, ensuring an audience for myself and the venue before I did any of the heavy lifting. The idea made so much sense that I got a ton of press: BoingBoing, BBC’s World Service, CNN, and more. But the logistics were… tricky. Fast forward two years later and Songkick launches Detour - a way for fans to help bring the musicians they love to wherever there is enough demand to see them play (London only for now, but there are plans to expand once London proves the concept.)
I LOVE performing - it is essential to me. But being a truly DIY artist means I don’t have the cash flow required to tour at a loss until things pick up. Detour is the perfect solution for me to play a London show.
Fans pledge to buy tickets to come see me. Once enough tickets are pledged Detour will find a promoter who will take care of the logistics and then the show is booked and confirmed. Fans who pledge for tickets are only charged after the show is confirmed for a date they can make it to.
If you want to see me play in London (or the UK at all) this is the way of the very near future.
