Stop reading this post now if you haven't read this week's release of Justice League #23 by Geoff Johns, Ivan Reis, Joe Prado, Eber Ferreira and Oclair Albert. Seriously, STOP READING OR YOU WILL GET SPOILED!!
We cool now? Okay. Here goes. I was a DC Comics kid and didn't get into Marvel until much later. And I was a big fan of the Justice League of America comics. Some of my favorite ones were when they either visited or got visited by their counterparts from Earth 2. Hey look! Different versions of the heroes I know and love. So when the evil versions of Earth 3 (known in various forms as the Crime Syndicate, Crime Society, etc.), it really intrigued me. The team has been kicking around the DCU for many years since their first introduction back in the 60's. I most notably remember their short and fatal appearance in the epic Crisis on Infinite Earths series from the 80's. And guess what? THEY'RE BACK!! At the end of JL #23, they are revealed as the true masterminds behind the evil happening in the DCU, setting up the big Villains month. I was already pretty excited about the Villains month and with these particular ones set as the centerpieces, I'm totally in.
I wonder what an evil version of myself would be like? Or maybe I'm the evil one.
